Professor Hofman is a clinical endocrinologist and researcher based at the Liggins Institute, University of Auckland. He has been involved in clinical research for 30 years and published over 200 papers. His major research interests focus on the developmental origins of adult health and disease. This encompasses the impact of prenatal under and over nutrition in later life, as well as the effect of alterations in the periconceptual environment such as wih assisted reproductive techniques. He is involved in promoting endocrine training in the Asia Pacific Region as well as improving paediatric endocrine care in resource constrained countries in the Asia Pacific region.
